About the Business
Bookcase is one of the country's largest independent bookshops, with over a quarter of a million books in stock. We have thirty rooms of well selected titles with specialist collections in most subjects. Our Cumbrian and Scottish stock is second-to-none, and we have various other dedicated sections for Natural History, Literature, Sciences, Poetry, Science Fiction and many, many more. If we don't have the book you want, we'll find it for you with our in-store booksearch facility. We are also specialists in classical music. We have one of the country's largest stocks of classical cds, both new and secondhand, and good collections of jazz, folk, world music and nostalgia. For the vinyl enthusiast there are over 30,000 classical and jazz LPs, and there are also four rooms of sheet music. The shop is at the heart of Carlisle's historic quarter, across the road from Tullie House Museum and half-way between the castle and the cathedral.
