About the Business

Founded in 1963, Witney Antiques has a large carefully selected stock of 17th, 18th and early 19th century English and Continental furniture, period longcase and bracket clocks, early English embroidery and needlework samplers.

We hope the following lectures will be of interest as they are about Collecting, a subject of interest to many. Dr Christina Anderson, author and lecturer, will talk about the art collection belonging to the The Dukes of Mantua (The Gonzaga Art collection sale has been described as the greatest art transaction of the 17th century) so it should be of special interest to many. Peter Harris will give a talk about Corporate Collecting. These subjects have had a great influence on how we see art and antiques in the 21st century so will be of particular interest to present day collectors.

The following lectures will be given at 5 pm on Wednesdays in the Headley Lecture Theatre, Ashmolean Museum, to be followed by a reception.
