Welcome to Scarab Antiques we are Alan and Sue Poultney. Like many dealers we started as private collectors and like many collectors our areas of interest developed and refined the more we collected.Regardless of those areas of interest, three things were always important - quality, condition and having something different. Those criteria are still as important to us as dealers and we strive to bring them to you.
Our independent, family run business has been trading from Downlane Hall in Tunbridge Wells since 1980. We specialise in sourcing, renovating and selling traditional English antique furniture. We sellquality antique furniture including chairs, tables, wardrobes, chests, desks and bookcases from the early Georgian period, through to Edwardian, Victorian and 20th century and Art Deco pieces.
Jeff has been dealing in antiques in East Sussex since the mid 1970s, following a degree course in Fine Art at Hornsey School of Art, London. Originally from Wisconsin, USA, (you may still notice aslight accent) he has lived in the UK for over 45 years.

Our shop, abeautiful listed building in the shadow of the ancient castle and cathedral, has got thousands of items of stock displayed in three large showrooms. In 1972 Ann Squires decided to become an antiques dealer. Armed with the kitchen table, £10 of bric-a-brac and her Renault 4 she set up a stall in Faversham, next to the Town Pump. The ventureproved to be a great success, and over the next four years grew in popularity. Having stalled out at various antiques fairs, she gained a place in a shared shop in Canterbury and then returned to Faversham in what is now known as la Roche restaurant.
