Admired for their accuracy and quality of manufacture, these were made by some of the top makers in London. They were also invested with their own unique interpretation by some very fine provincial clockmakers. Although these were produced from the beginning of domestic clockmaking, regulators reached a pinnacle of excellence in the Victorian period and even later in the pursuit of precision timekeeping, and for astronomical observation. Therefore they fit perfectly into the variety of clocks we like to offer, with their particular sense of style and ambition.
Currently, W. F. Bruce Antiques has a choice of seven regulators. These include a mid-Victorian wall-hanging example by Dent in the Strand (makers to Her Majesty and HRH the Prince of Wales) and a beautifully made Gothic regulator by the renowned maker Litherland Davies, Liverpool.
